While it doesn't offer the same dreamy white beaches of the Mayan, I feel like it makes up for it in value everything is incredibly affordable, as well as culture. The buildings were so beautiful, I'd highly recommend staying in the Historical District for at least part of your trip. Stone Island is also a great break from the hustle of the Golden Zone.
