If you visit Newcastle in the winter there are some touristic experiences that you're going to miss, like the river cruises and the touristic bus. But it's still worth it. There are several museum and galleries, both free and priced. My favourite one is The Baltic.

You may like the exhibitions or not, but just for the building, the amazing views, the gift shop and the cafe downstairs, it's totally worth the visit. And that one is free!

There's even a cat cafe! And if you're staying for a few days, you can easily get to many other places around the North East with the train or the bus. Just in case you need a dose of the great outdoors. So all in all, Newcastle is worth a visit whatever you're looking for. We could not find a Tourist Office but the best advertisement for Newcastle are the Geordies , whose friendliness and good humour are its greatest recommendation.

Newcastle is a fabulous city, with extremely friendly locals and a good vibrant buzz about town. You are spoiled for choice in good restaurants - our son takes us to a different one each visit and they never disappoint! Great for walking there are some lovely parks and very good public transport too. Chinatown has excellent restaurants, plus many in town, but The Bake Lebanese cuisine is our favourite.

A great city to visit. We love it. Turning an outpatient appointment into two days of relaxation by visiting favourite Newcastle pubs selling cask and craft ales, eating good value pub grub and good craic with the locals. Enjoying the first snowfall of the year swirling down onto the quayside from my bedroom window then walking in the slush. Day ticket on the Quayside bus service to visit Byker and the Free Trade Inn with its wonderful range of Cask and Craft ales and it's superb view of the city, the Tyne and it's bridges.

We stayed in a Pet Friendly Hotel.

The staff were very welcoming to the dog, there was a pet bed ,water bowl and a packet of Dog treats in the room. Needless to say we were very impressed with our hotel and Newcastle in general. Eating out was difficult due to the weather we were unable to sit outside and couldn't eat inside due to our beloved pet accompanied us at all time. A surprisingly pleasant and safe city centre. Lively social scene and the river Tyne bridge and waterfront such a pleasant area to sit and watch the world go by. The hotel is in a great location and has everything you need for a comfortable vacation.

Very reasonably priced for a city centre hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful answering any queries you may have. Breakfast choice is amazing having continental or cooked, both if you're hungry. This is our first visit here, would definitely recommend it. We liked the quality of the whole hotel, excellent staff, rooms and food.

There was a very calm, serene feel to the hotel. It was in a quiet area of Newcastle but within 10 minutes walk of the city centre.
