With a history of more than 80 years, Guangxi University is well worth a visit if you want to see I grow up around the campus and it's been my playground ever since. I have witnessed how it becomes I lived on the West Campus for three years. It was the experience of a lifetime. The people are friendly. The campus is beautiful with lilly ponds all over, and loads of trees bearing seasonal fruit for students to pick. There is an open market for fresh food and food stands with prepared meals. Dumplings, steamed chicken, barbecued pork or duck! The campus is bicycle friendly, although there is an ever-increasing presence of cars.
To get around there is always the option of a three wheel bicycle cab trishaw. There are lots of good restaurants off campus at any gate. It is very pleasant to be in the company of 30, to 40, intelligent people. The quality of education is very good.

I worked at Guangxi University for a year. I really enjoyed my time there. Compare to the universities in South Africa, it is unbelievable huge I had a lovely new apartment on the campus and you could find anything you need on the campus or just outside the gates. Different kinds of shops, bars, restaurants, hair salons, hotels, park to name a few.

My favorite spot was a small student restaurant on the campus. Sitting there with a friend, having a cold beer in the tropical weather and watching the students going and coming from classes was a good way to end the day. The best way around the campus is by bike or scooter or you can take a bike taxi for 2 Yuan.
It is easy to travel from the university to Beihai beach or the scenic spots of Guilin or even to Hanoi in Vietnam. I have sweet memories of friendly students, beautiful parks and cheap restaurants with good food at Guangxi university! It is a very nice school and huge campus. The dorms are not the greatest in the world. You must remember that you are not in the western culture, but they have free internet for all students. The best schooling Guangxi has to offer with the fresh energy of thousands of happy faces and lots of English corners.
Also some of the best hospitals in China for international medical tourists. My wife graduated from this university so she took me to visit it. The campus is very nice and there are some new buildings as well as some very old ones. The library is very large and there are rooms you can rent if you care to stay on campus.

The rooms are not very nice so we stayed at a nearby City Inn. One thing that surprised me is that this university has no logo shop. You can not buy anything with the schools logo on it. Anyway it was a nice place to visit and a beautiful place to take a walk. Skip to main content.
