Sadly, little remains today to indicate its important past in the Mughal era. Nearby, a large caravanserai built by Shah Jahan is also occupied by offices. Mughal-era caravanserais can be found on the main road heading both north and south out of Delhi. The old city has plenty from the later Mughal period to see.
Close to the Firozshah kutla is the tomb of Khan-i-khanan. Agra — The east bank of the Jamuna has some lovely Mughal-era sites. From north to south: the ruins of a large caravanserai which once belonged to Nur Jahan.

The older tomb is very simple, and was visited by Babur. The newer tomb was put up during the reign of Jahangir, and is the finest Mughal building I ever saw in Bihar. Ajmer — The famous dargah of Muinuddin Chishti at Ajmer received much royal patronage during the Mughal era.
For a long period of time, Akbar made the pilgrimage every year. It can be difficult to take in the architecture though, with the huge crowds of pilgrims that the town still attracts today. Jaunpur — Jaunpur is best known for its great mosques, bulit a century before Babur came to India. Nonetheless the town is also home to a wonderful bridge built by Akbar.
The bridge passes a small island where a mosque was built at the same time; across the street from the mosque is a fabulous sculpture of a Hindu mythical creature. Rudyard Kipling wrote an interesting poem alluding to the construction of the bridge.
