Anyway, once you pandya family identifies you lineage, then the purahit will take you to the first of three places where you need to offer your Pind, the first being Phalgu river's bank. There is a small entry fee of Rs 5, and then you have to collect water from hidden river Phalgu. You might need to spend Rs 10 to the guys who would be supervising the spot from where you can easily take the water. And then will that water you offer the first set of Pind to you fore fathers and all deceased people to whom you want to offer the Pind. There the purahit will offer you with all the rituals but a Pandya will take you in the temple for offering the Pindya at the lotus feet of Lord Vishnu.
Here the Pandya will ask for money offering. At the times their request are bit too high, but you should politely offer them what you want to. But any offering around Rs is very well received. Then the purahit will bring you back to the first spot, and member of the Pandya family will now demand pranami of Tirtha guru. Once again, rule is the same, they might ask for a lot but you should try to offer them which you can afford. Anything around Rs is usually well received. Once the first two spots are done, you have to board your auto rickshaw and the Purahit will take you to the third destination, Akshaya Brikhya the ever lasting banyan tree.
Similar rituals are performed there. Once it is done, the Pandya no longer the ones linked with you family lineage will let you offer the Pind at the foot of the tree, and will seek their pranami. Anything around Rs is well accepted.
And this completes the puja portion. Now it is usually the purahits who ask for their remuneration. You can always argue that Rs was already paid, but as I have explained there is hardly anything left for them.
