Do pay a visit to the city hall and take the guided tour if your German is up to it :- The Christmas market is fabulous, and so is the mood. We tried the Zum goldenen Einhorn for the Friday dinner great , and a greek place called Dafne on Saturday good. Next time we would have spent some hours in the Carolus Therme the spa and swimming hall , and also spent some more time strolling the streets. Just two train rides from London St Pancras Eurostar and Bahn takes you into the centre of Aachen and couldn't be easier and more worthwhile and affordable as a German city break.

It's our second visit and definitely won't be our last. Having visited several German Christmas markets over the years, Aachen's has gone straight to the top of our list for content, quantity of stalls, and buzzing, authentic atmosphere. It's head and shoulders above Cologne and other larger city venues.

At any time of year Aachen is a history buff's dream with excellent museums and historic buildings - especially the Charlemagne connection. The variety of interesting shops of all types are a shopaholic's dream, and the numerous cafes and 'Printen' shops make Aachen memorable - not to mention the delightfully friendly and welcoming locals. Lastly, a visit to the Carolus Thermen spa is an absolute 'must'! The City Center is beautiful, the Cathedral is a must-see and the Centre Charlemagne is very interesting.

The shopping zones are relatively close to the monuments and the shops are well furnished. As for the restaurants, they were mainly in one street and in front of the City Hall but they were a bit expensive.

My only regret is that we missed the Christmas market, it was over by 23rd December and we arrived the 30th.. We visited the Christmas market on thirsday and it was perfect. On Friday we went to the Carolusthermen, also very good, but the Christmasmarket on saterday was overcrowded. If you can, don't go in the weekend! You can't see anything!! There are a lot of cosy restaurants in the center of the city.

Aachen is not so big, you can do it all on foot. We went to Aachen for the Christmas markets and we had a lovely time! Not enough to local places to eat at Night! Shops only open once a month on Sunday's and when we were there they were closed which being the Christmas period they could have done loads of business.

Aachen itself is a hidden gem - great for shopping or enjoying the historical cultural aspect. JoAnna was very helpful in answering our questions and helping us find additional information on train schedules and locations of some of the sites we wanted to see. The hotel is very close to Central Station, an easy five minute walk.

We were also a short walk to the city center and a number of local attractions. The breakfast was very good and had a number of selections. The property is really close to the city centre and was really neat and clean. Staff were helpful and courteous. So if you are traveling with friends and value your privacy choose a different room. I loved the free minibar.

The local of the hotel is perfect, especially for the Weihnachtsmarkt. Staff is friendly and helpful. Easy access to the hotel after hours.

Youth camps

Good isolation of the windows: not much outside noise is getting in. Good price for a family of four in a big city like Aachen. Room was well laid out with hot shower. Good parking for vehicle in carpark. Breakfast good. Friendly helpful staff. Ours was only a transit stop but I would say the hotel would be a solid base to explore the city from. Amazing hotel in heart of Aachen! Only five minutes walking from the most important places in the city. Tidy rooms, delicious breakfast, friendly staff and lovely, helpful owners who gave us very useful tips for sightseeing! We enjoyed our stay so much!

Location very close to station and within easy reach of the city centre. Owner who also served breakfast was lovely and we felt welcome.

Centrally located near the Aachen Cathedral. Great restaurants and right across from the park.

Very clean and well maintained. Parking underneath hotel at reasonable pricing 10euros per night.

Staff was friendly. Grocery store about 10 min walk. Great hotel, very comfortable and clean and very close to the railway station and the city centre. We picked the location because it was so close to the train station 3 min walk , where our shuttle picked us up every day and dropped us off. The staff was extremely accommodating to our strange schedule, from a late check-in on Friday to a very early check-out on Sunday morning We even left our suitcase at the hotel after checking out on Sunday and the receptionist CAME BACK to the hotel hours after her shift ended that evening to let us into the hotel and allow us to retrieve our suitcase the reception at the hotel closes at on Sundays and Holidays.

Very nice apartment in a good, surprisingly quiet city centre location. Felt very safe in these times of the virus. I use this location, when I tranzit Germany. The sleepover is super comfortable, and I love the fact that the accomodation has a small kitchen. I highly recommend this location. Good size room, the bed and chairs were comfortable, nice bathroom and a decent fridge.
